Riverside Cemetery, Pawtucket RI - Sat. 30th

                                   Male Indigo Bunting

                                   House Wren (leaving said house)

                                   Red-eyed Vireo

                                   Yellow Warbler
Not too much new but the Indigo Buntings have indeed decided Pawtucket is for them.

Mass. coast, May 29th.

                                  Great Egret

                                   Ruddy Turnstone

                                      Willet

Thursday 28 May 2009

Eastern Tent Caterpillar (beautiful larva, non-descript moth as a friend succinctly put it)

                                   Wood Thrush

                                              Waxwing
The Waxwing was half of a pair I saw last week at the same spot - they seem to hanging around too long not to be breeding.

More from Riverside Cemetery May 23-25.

                                   Common Green Darner

                                   Bank Swalllow

                                            House Wren

                                          Black-billed Cuckoo

The Cuckoo is a lousy picture but such an excellent bird.

More song birds

                                    Red-eyed Vireo

                                    1st summer male American Redstart

                                       Adult male American Redstart

So much song in the cemetery with Red-eyed and Philadelphia Vireos, American Redstarts,Yellowthroat, Blackpoll, Wilson's, Canada, Yellow, Magnolia, and Black-throated  Blue Warblers; either nest building or on eggs were Belted Kingfisher, Osprey, Rose-breasted Grosbeak, Great-crested Flycatcher and Bank Swallow, with many of the common species feeding young. A pair of Indigo Buntings may be setting up in a weedy neighborhood.

Riverside Cemetery, Pawtucket RI - Wednesday 20th

                                   Field Sparrow

                                Male Rose-breasted Grosbeak

                                   Courting Downy Woodpeckers

                                   Drinking Canadian Tiger Swallowtail

                                   Err, Bees

Plenty of migrants now drifting through, mostly in Swan Point (immediately to the south my preferred and more quiet Riverside), Unfortunately nothing really good captured on film.
Most of the warblers were males singing and mostly hidden in the tops of trees. I had 9 species but there was plenty I didn't see but a friendly and knowledgeable couple (Sue and Rodney)did, including Yellow-billed Cuckoo. The weekend beckons.

The last night at Nancees in Westport, Mass. produced a couple of new niceties.
